Victims of Drunk Driving Accidents

Victims of drunk driving crashes are victims of violence. These victims are often mistakenly not recognized as victims of violent crimes such as domestic violence, rape and homicide victims, yet they suffer the same symptoms as other victims. The aftermath of this type of crime can leave victims feeling anger, anxiety, helplessness and fear. Some unresolved issues that victims experience are:

  • Grieving the loss of their friend or relative
  • Financial burdens
  • Placing blame on themselves
  • Fear of driving again
  • Recovery emotionally, physically and spiritually

Legacy House provides assistance in the form of victim advocacy, crisis intervention, emotional support/counseling, court advocacy and assistance in filing for compensation from the Violent Crime Compensation Fund. Legacy House has staff specifically designated to provide services to victims of drunk driving crashes.
