Health Department Still Has Flu Vaccine Available

Marion County residents who have not received a flu vaccine this year still have time to receive one.

The Marion County Health Department has an ample supply of both injectable and FluMist vaccine.

"We have not reached the peak of the flu season, so we are inviting anyone wanting a flu shot to come and receive one," said Crystal Jones, M.D., medical director, actue disease for the health department.

The health department offers flu shots for $10 and pneumonia shots for $20 through its three district health offices.

In coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Indiana State Department of Health, the Marion County Health Department is making all remaining vaccine available. Previously, restrictions had been placed on who could receive the vaccine to ensure those considered at high-risk for flu were vaccinated first.
