Health Department Expands Clinic Hours For Back to School Immunizations

As local students return to school, the Marion County Health Department is expanding the hours of its District Health Offices and offering free immunizations for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Year round schools have opened this month and traditional calendar schools will open in August.

The expanded hours will be held August 3-6 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Marion County Health Department District Health Offices:

South District, 505 East National Avenue
Northeast District, 6042 East 21st Street
Northwest District, 6940 North Michigan Road

Free back to school immunizations will also be available Saturday, August 1 at the Covering Kids and Families Back to School Family Day. The event will be held at the Marion County Health Department, 3838 North Rural Street, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

It is recommended and extremely helpful that parents and guardians bring current shot records for each child. Vaccines offered at the District Health Offices include:

  • Tdap (tetanus, diptheria and pertussis)
  • DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis)
  • IPV (polio)
  • MMR (measles, mumps and rubella)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Hepatitis B

Parents and guardians can also contact the health department at 317-221-2122 for regular clinic hours at each of the three district health offices.
