Health Department to Offer H1N1 From District Health Offices

The Marion County Health Department will begin offering H1N1 vaccinations from its three district health offices Monday, January 25 and continuing through the remainder of flu season. The vaccinations will be offered for free.

The H1N1 clinics will not provide any other vaccinations. Nasal and injectable forms of the vaccine will be available.

"We are offering a convenient, free opportunity to vaccinate as many people in our community as possible. Now is the time to get the H1N1 vaccine," said Virginia A. Caine, M.D., director, Marion County Health Department.

Federal, state and local health officials believe another wave of H1N1 is immanent and are strongly recommending that those who have not been vaccinated do so.

The days, times and locations of the H1N1 vaccination clinics includes:

  • Mondays, 9 a.m. - Noon
    South District Office
    505 National Avenue

  • Tuesdays, Noon - 4 p.m.
    Northwest District Health Office
    Pecar Health Center
    6940 North Michigan Road

  • Thursdays, Noon - 4 p.m.
    Northeast District Health Office
    6042 East 21st Street
The district health offices can vaccinate up to 50 patients per day on a first-come, first-served basis.

The health department has also announced another free H1N1 clinic for the general public. The clinic will be held January 30, from 9 a.m. - Noon, at the Lawrence North High School Fieldhouse, 7802 Hague Road.

Individuals planning on going to one of the district health offices or the Lawrence North clinic can download consent forms from www.mchd.com and fill them out to decrease time spent at the clinic.

Those with questions can contact the Marion County Health Department's 221-3366 Flu Helpline. The bi-lingual helpline is available Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
