General Information
Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County is a municipal corporation governed by a seven
member
Board of Trustees. The Corporation consists of three divisions: the Executive Division, the Public Health Division (aka
Marion County Health Department) and the Hospital Division (aka
Wishard Health Services). The Purchasing Department is responsible for the procurement of supplies
and services for the Executive and Public Health divisions.

The general pattern for handling purchases is as follows:
A request (requisition) is initiated by a department requiring products/services and sent to the Purchasing Department.
Complete and accurate specifications are determined.
Good business practices are followed in determining best offer for required materials or services.
A Health and Hospital Corporation purchase order number is used in placing orders; and the receipt of an invoice is
necessary before payment can be made.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Purchasing Department is to responsively and efficiently manage the procurement of
supplies and services for the Health and Hospital Corporation while maintaining the highest level of professional ethics and
integrity.
The Purchasing Department will manage the procurement process in order to acquire quality supplies and services at the lowest
price; give timely and effective support to insure that the requirements of the corporation's services to the community are met;
provide potential suppliers with equal consideration of their products and services; instill public confidence that contracts are
awarded in an equitable and economical manner.
The Purchasing Department will continue to offer courteous and dedicated assistance to all of its internal and external customers.
