Marion County Public Health Department Announces New Community Testing Site for COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS – The Marion County Public Health Department will host a new COVID-19 community testing site that will offer drive-through and walk-up testing in an area of the county most impacted by the virus.

Beginning Friday, June 5, drive-through and walk-up testing for COVID-19 will be offered at Marion County Public Health Department, 3838 N. Rural Street (parking lot east side of Hasbrook Building.) Testing will be available Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Testing will also be offered on the west side at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, 4790 W. 16th Street, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. and on the east side at Warren Central High School, 9500 E. 16th Street, Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s from 6 a.m. – 2 p. m.

“We are incredibly thankful for all the opportunities we have had with numerous community leaders across Marion County to provide COVID-19 testing for residents especially in areas that have been identified as having a greater risk of complications from the virus due to disparities in healthcare,” said Virginia A. Caine, MD, director and chief medical officer of the Marion County Public Health Department.

“If you have been in involved in any of the demonstrations or large crowds, it is recommended that you get tested,” Dr. Caine added. “If you plan on participating in any of the demonstrations, it is recommended that you wear a face covering and practice social distancing.”

Since opening the first testing site at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on April 2, the health department has performed 56,214 tests. To date, Marion County has had 10,037 test positive for COVID-19 with 594 deaths.
